Pick Up The Fork

A Serious Eater's Guide to Buenos Aires and Beyond

Another one bites the dust

Posted on October 28, 2010 3 Comments

I’m sure other expats can sympathize, when living in a foreign country, making friends can be a touchy subject.  Some transit Buenos Aires dwellers may not understand the reluctance of the long-termer to befriend any other foreigner that comes their way.  There must be some selectivity involved. Friends come, friends go.  What kind of tortured soul likes to attend a despedida every weekend?   Throughout my years in Buenos Aires, I have probably gone through 8 despedida seasons, in a 4 year span, endless times hearing the bid farewell to their beloved Buenos Aires.  It’s time to join an expat support group.

The one benefit to the dreadful goodbye is the amount of free shit these people leave behind. Gold, Jerry, Gold!

The Motherload: shit ton of BOOZE sake, wines, gin, Baileys, FRIZE; peanut butter, lovely condiments like ketchup, mustard, bbq sauce, salad dressing; COCK sriracha sauce, vinegars, sesame oil, rice, couscous, pasta, dried peppers, soup stock, oils, salsa, spices RED PEPPER flakes, ground pepper, dried mint, whole grains, towels, shoes, sleeping bags, flip flops, shirts, magazines

To my first fan and blog stalker, I’ll miss ya puta.
