Tallo Verde: Organic Produce Delivery

Posted on May 24, 2011 7 Comments

Oh, there’s nothing like a huge box filled with fresh organic fruits and vegetables delivered right to your door. For all of you fatties who whine about how it’s impossible to eat healthy in this meat and cheese loving city, just put down the empanada and order from Tallo Verde, one of the very few places in Buenos Aires with a large selection of organic produce, growing fruits, vegetables and herbs without any chemicals or pesticides.

Easy to do all the ordering online, there are three different options to choose from: “Mi TalloBox” where you select your own produce from a list of in-season products (comes in 3 sizes), “TalloBox de la Semana” which includes 15 pre-selected products, chosen by Tallo Verde, and “TalloBox Chef” similar to de la semana except with 20 products. I opted for the Mi TalloBox (medium) where I chose 15 types of fruits and vegetables. Depending what you choose, some are sold by the unit – like the baby watermelon and squash, while others come in a pack – like the mini potatoes and shallots, while the rest include 4-5 pieces per order (this is all specified when ordering).

Chola, the trendy little pretentious wonky-eyebrowed kitty, says she only eats organic “I got to keep my sexy on.”

Not only was I really happy with the overall quality (I think the red apples were the best – crisp, sweet and juicy), the customer service was also excellent. Very friendly and helpful, they delivered the produce when they actually said they would… unlike my plumber who says he’ll be there “a la mañana” and doesn’t show up until two days later at 10pm.

Organic food is not cheap and neither is Tallo Verde – the whole box set me back about AR$100, but for the amount of produce included, and the high quality, I’d gladly pay 25 pesos more knowing that it is coming from a good source. Also, sometimes it’s necessary to have that box-o-healthiness heckling me – shaming me into NOT eating the alfajor oreo because I just spent 100 pesos on a box of organic fruit.

Tallo Verde also has a fantastic referral program that works like this, if you were referred by a friend, you get a 50% discount on your first order, and that friend also received a 50% discount on their next order.  So for all you FRIENDS out there who actually read this far into my posts, here’s how we can help each other:

In order to receive 50% off your first order simply email Tallo Verde at huerta@talloverde.com and tell them Pick Up The Fork sent you or you can email me at imhungry@pickupthefork.com and I can send you the details.

*Disclaimer: I’m not getting any monetary benefit from Tallo Verde – just taking full advantage of their discount program so I can get my own 50% off on these lovely fruits and veggies. I don’t make money off of this blog so…HELP ME WORK FOR FOOD!

What’s the farthest distance for delivery? I’d love to take advantage, and also give you the discount.
