I'm in my waffle maker era. I brought back a $10usd mini waflera cutie from Target and oh nene! I'm waffling up a tormenta! These are some of my recent creations:
🧇Rice waffle, fried egg, shrooms (also grilled in the wafflera), asparagus, Greek yogurt, everything bagel seasoning
🧇Teriyaki glazed sushi rice waffle & lettuce wraps stuffed with pollo picado & stir fry veggies
🧇Cheddar Hashbrown (papa y boniato) waffle with smoked trout, dill yogurt, egg, and salad
🧇Berry waffle (gluten free) with fruit & a big glugggg of maple syrup
🧇Chipwafle, chipá from @lakitchen.ba smashed in the waflera until warm n gooey n crispy 💍
~ next experiment: tapioca waffle, any other suggestions?

San Telmo has changed quite a bit over the years,

San Telmo has changed quite a bit over the years, but @nuestraparrilla, an iconic hole-in-the-wall parrillita nestled next to the Mercado de San Telmo remains a barrio favorite. Family owned and operated by Freddy and his kids, it opened in 2001 and still grills up solid comida al paso.

What to order: choripán (sausage sandwich), bondiola (pork shoulder), vacíopan (flank steak sandwich). Smother it all with salsa criolla, chimichurri, provenzal, their homemade salsa picante, and you'll understand why I'm no longer a vegetarian 🔥

Yafuso is the most difficult reservation to snag in BA (there's nothing available until 2025🫨), but lunch is first come first serve Tuesday thru Saturday. @sayusak's set menu changes daily, and includes an entrada, main dish, y postre. I went on tonkatsu day and also had miso soup and cheesecake with dulce de boniato, crema, y crumble. Japanese comfort food at its finest.

Hot tip: Mian, which has been my go-to Barrio Chino dumplings and noodle soup spot for over a decade, sells frozen dumplings so you can make them at home (steamed or pan-fried) whenever that tingly dumpling craving hits.

I made a dipping sauce with black vinegar, soy, and salsa macha (cuz I don't have anymore chili crisp), annnnd mmmm mmm mmmmm 🥟💥🥟💦

After hearing about its greatness for a long time from many credible sources, last night on a hungover Sunday at 7:30pm, I finally made a well overdue visit to @theflourstore and I gotta tell you... THE BURGER WAS EVERYTHING I HOPED IT WOULD BE AND MORE! 🍔

Soft potato buns are baked right before service for ultimate freshness, the delicious rib eye ground beef forms an incredible umami-packed crust when its smashed on the griddle, the toppings, and even the thin McDonalds-onda fries were all memorable. From the first bite of my caramelized onion and bacon cheeseburger with Russian dressing, I instantly turned into a @theflourstore stan, and their burgers joined a crew of reoccurring food cravings that appear in my day dreams.

I'm excited to share *Buenos Aires: capital cultural de América Latina*, a graphic novel that tells stories of Argentine culture through the lens of design, architecture, fútbol, queerness, tango, literature, theater, mitos, and gastronomía (by yours truly👋). It was written and illustrated by immensely talented Argentine women writers and artists, and I couldn't be prouder to be a part of it.

Gira Culinaria tells the story of a food obsessed tourist on a mission to discover the dishes Buenos Aires is most famous for, with heavy inspiration taken from some of my favorite porteño haunts (can you recognize any??). ¡¡BIGGEST SHOUTOUT to @camicomics for making my words come to life and capturing the foods of BA better than I could have ever imagined!!

Gracias to @inprotur_arg, @visitargentina, @volquer, Agustina, and Ezequiel for making sure I didn't sound like a dumb-dumb in Spanish, and @chicaelectricaa for recommending me to participate💞 The book was made for promoción turística and currently not sold to the public, but word on the calle is it will be available online soon, with talks of making more copies for librerías.

Last week the book was presented at the Legislatura, so after it felt right to celebrate over at Galería Guemes with La Cocina's pikachu and pollo empanadas, and a refreshing vaso of coca light, a perfect porteño moment✨✨
